The following tariff provisions apply for the 2021 Schülerferienticket. The tariff provisions are available to download here.

1.1. The transport contract is concluded with the respective TC whose vehicle the school pupil uses.

1.2. Unless otherwise stated below, the respective terms and conditions of transport of the transport companies (TC) participating in the promotional offer shall apply. For journeys within the MDV tariff zone, the terms and conditions of transport of the MDV tariff apply; for journeys within the marego transport association zone, the marego terms and conditions of transport apply.

1.3. The sale of the SFT is conducted on behalf of and for the account of the issuing TC.

3.1 The SFT can be used by full-time school pupils up to the age of 23 (up to one day before the 23rd birthday).

3.1.1 Specifically, the following persons are eligible for the ticket:

a) Pupils who attend the following general education schools: Primary school, lower secondary school, secondary school, Rudolf Steiner school, school for children with special needs, grammar school, comprehensive school and school for children with learning difficulties.

b) Pupils who attend the following vocational schools: Vocational school, technical secondary school, technical grammar school, one-year pre-vocational training course and one-year basic vocational training course.

c) Pupils who attend private or other educational institutions that do not fall into the categories specified above are also eligible to use the ticket, provided they are exempt from compulsory vocational schooling on the basis of their attendance at said schools or educational institutions, or that attendance at these schools or other educational institutions is eligible for support under the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BaföG).

d) Foreign pupils can prove their eligibility with a valid school certificate from their school in their home country, or the school at which they are participating in an exchange programme - or with a corresponding certificate from a local school board - which indicates the student status according to the above mentioned regulations and which covers the period of validity of the SFT.

e) Children aged 6 and above who will enter the first year of primary school after the 2019 summer holidays.

f) Pupils of vocational training centres whose pupil ID card or school certificate do not clearly indicate their eligibility, shall receive a supplementary certificate upon request at selected points of sale of the transport companies.

3.1.2 The following persons are not eligible:
Apprentices, university students, pupils who attend night school, technical schools of the German Armed Forces, colleges and technical colleges, participants in the German voluntary social year and voluntary environmental year schemes or any other comparable social services, and participants in the Federal Volunteer Service.

3.1.3 For pupils in the sixth year of schooling (in possession of a school report from Year 5) and above, eligibility for the ticket must be proven by presenting a school ID card, a school certificate or a copy of the most recent school report when using the ticket. The school report may be presented on a mobile device (smartphone, tablet or laptop); in cases of doubt, the original document is to be presented at a later date. Neither transport company entitlement cards or loyalty cards nor DB certificates indicating the purchase of school pupil season tickets, which are also valid for apprentices and university students, are valid as proof of eligibility and as such are not accepted.

School pupil ID cards or school certificates for the 2020/2021 academic year which expire immediately prior to the summer holidays shall be accepted up to and including 01th September 2021.

3.2 The SFT is non-transferable and is only valid if the holder has indelibly entered his first name and surname (in clear writing) in the specially provided fields on the ticket and signed the ticket prior to his first journey, and his eligibility for the ticket can be proven in accordance with points 3.1.3 and 3.1.4. In cases of doubt, the holder may be asked to reproduce his signature during the ticket check.

4.1. The SFT is offered in combination with a voucher booklet, which contains, among other things, vouchers for discounts at leisure facilities and information on the possible uses and scope of the SFT.

4.2. Pupils who purchased their SFT from a ticket machine or on board a regional train operated by one of the regional rail passenger transport companies or from a mobile ticket machine operated by Magdeburger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH & Co. KG, and therefore did not receive a voucher booklet, can obtain one upon presentation of their SFT when redeeming the coupon at the travel centres or sales agencies of the regional rail passenger transport companies or at any point of sale of Magdeburger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH & Co. KG.

4.3. On routes operated by Transdev Region Ost GmbH in Saxony, pupils can obtain the voucher booklet when purchasing the SFT directly from a service employee.

4.4. Pupils who purchased their SFT on the bus, and therefore did not receive a voucher booklet, can obtain one upon presentation of their SFT when redeeming the coupon at any point of sale or the offices of the issuing company.

5.1. With the SFT, all regional trains, buses and trams operated by the transport companies participating in the SFT campaign can be used as often as desired during the campaign period in the state of Saxony-Anhalt and in the MDV zone (with the exception of the Schierke - Brocken route, see 5.4). Annex 1 of the tariff provisions contains a list of the participating transport companies.

5.2. Beyond the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the MDV zone, the SFT is valid on regional trains on the following routes; however, it is not valid on city transport services or routes outside of the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the MDV zone:

5.3. The SFT also entitles holders to one return journey from the valid zone specified in 5.1 and 5.2 to Berlin on a regional train service operated by DB Regio AG, Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland GmbH or Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH (ODEG), with no changeover in the states of Berlin and Brandenburg. The following route sections can be used for such journeys:

The outward and return journeys may also be on different days. A break in the journey is otherwise not permitted.

A return journey in the opposite direction, i.e. from Berlin to the valid zone specified in 5.1 and 5.2 and back, is not permitted.The customer advisor will mark the use of the one-time return journey by making a corresponding imprint on the ticket.

5.4. The SFT is also valid on the route network of the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen GmbH. For the route section Schierke - Brocken, the following separate regulation applies: The holder of the SFT can undertake one return journey on this route section for the price of a child fare. The Harzer Schmalspurbahnen GmbH will mark the ticket accordingly.

5.5. With the exception of journeys made by dial-a-bus services, the ticket is also valid for journeys on route 8040 Salzwedel – Lübbow – Wustrow– Lüchow operated by PVGS Altmarkreis Salzwedel mbH and LSE Lüchow-Schmarsauer Eisenbahn GmbH.

5.6. The ticket is valid on the following bus routes outside of Saxony-Anhalt:

5.7. Insofar as SFTs of neighbouring federal states border the valid zone of the Saxony-Anhalt/MDV SFT (e.g. the Lower Saxony SFT), the two can be combined. In this case, the SFT is valid up until the first stop in the valid zone of the neighbouring SFT upon presentation of the connecting ticket.

5.8. Modes of transport which are not operated by the transport companies listed in Annex 1 (e.g. DB Fernverkehr AG) cannot be used with the SFT, not even against payment of a surcharge.

6.1. The price for the SFT is € 28.

6.2. The SFT is only valid in 2nd class carriages on regional trains. A transfer to a 1st class carriage is not permitted.

6.3. Use of dial-a-bus services:
6.3.1.In the state of Saxony-Anhalt, dial-a-bus services provided by the transport companies can be used for no additional charge (for exceptions see point 5.5).
6.3.2. In sections of the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund in Saxony and Thuringia, dial-a-bus surcharges are to be paid in accordance with the applicable tariff provisions for the journeys undertaken.

6.4. Bicycles
6.4.1. Bicycle transportation is free of charge on:

  • Regional trains across Saxony-Anhalt
  • Regional trains in the MDV zone
  • Regional trains in Thuringia
  • the trams and buses in the districts of Saalekreis and Burgenlandkreis

And the means of transport of the:

Bicycles can only be transported if there is enough space for them. The decision regarding bicycle transportation lies with the transport personnel.

6.4.2. For all other transport companies, a ticket must generally be purchased in accordance with the respective tariff provisions for the transportation of bicycles

6.5. The SFT cannot be used in combination with other reduced fares.

7.1. The SFT can be returned free of charge before the day it becomes valid, to the company from which it was purchased. No processing fees will be charged. The company itself determines where the ticket can be returned. Tickets drawn from a raffle are marked with the letters "K.E." and are excluded from exchange and refunds.

7.2. In the event of loss, theft or improper handling of the ticket, no replacement ticket shall be issued. Tickets that are not used will not be reimbursed after they become valid.

7.3. Insofar as claims are made pursuant to Article 16 of the Regulation (EC) 1371 / 2007, refunds shall be effected by the companies of Deutsche Bahn AG in accordance with No. 9.1.3 of the Conditions of Carriage of Passengers.

7.4. In the case of compensation claims under Article 17 of the Regulation (EC) 1371 / 2007, Numbers 9.2 and 9.3 of the Conditions of Carriage of Passengers shall apply in conjunction with No. 13.2 of the Conditions on the Purchase and Use of Season Tickets.

8.1. Any subsequent change (e.g. by changing the name written on the ticket, by shrink-wrapping or laminating the ticket) shall render the SFT invalid.

8.2. In the event of a violation of the tariff provisions specified above, an increased transport charge will be levied in accordance with the respective statutory regulations; in the event of suspicion of fraudulent conveyance/fraud (forgery of the ticket), the ticket (against receipt) shall be confiscated.

The offer relates to a ticket that is available for a considerably reduced transport charge within the meaning of Para. 5 Sentence 2 of the German Rail Transport Act (EVO). There is therefore no reimbursement of the expenses required to use another train on the basis of Para. 17 Sect. 1 No. 1 EVO in conjunction with Para. 17 Sect. 2 EVO.
